Following the set-up of our market garden over the winter, we are very pleased to have begun offering a field-to-plate element to our menu. Our Head Gardener, Spencer Iley, has a huge amount of experience from working at some prestigious market gardens, such as at The Newt, before joining our team. Using his processes including the famous “no-dig” method, he is growing exceptional produce in a completely natural and environmentally friendly way. The market garden is just 10 miles away in Bruton, so we are also significantly lowering food miles. We believe that the alchemy, the magic, that goes into the flavour of our food adds enormously to our dining experience and now, that literally starts from seed.
When it comes to fish, there’s not a lot that Joe Shucker does not know. Having grown up learning all things fishy whilst with his family's business, Joe is now using his many ethical connections to supply a select few restaurants, and we are lucky enough to be one of them! We met Joe through our love of music. One sunny evening we bumped into him whilst he was DJ-ing at The Chapel in Bruton. We lent him some headphones, and we soon became fast friends. As the evening continued, we were surprised to learn he was a 5th generation fish smoker and monger! The rest as they say, is history. Do go and check out his shop in Wimborne if you get a chance!
It is no secret that the art selection in our restaurant is amazing and that is for one reason, and one reason only: Gone Rogue LDN!
Kim, Neil and Todd are friends of ours since meeting them back in 2020 at a pop-up gallery for the Pikes party at Frome’s Marston Park. We love their art curation and couldn't ask for a better team to dress our walls. Their background in the art world runs deep, with a long history of curating artwork for some illustrious hotels, galleries, restaurants and private collectors in London, Ibiza, New York and now, Frome!
Based out of Devizes, Walter Rose was an obvious choice for our meat supplier. In an industry which can be so misleading with greenwashing and cruel practices, it is hard to find a meat supplier with as strong a moral compass as our own. Walter Rose practises a true "field to fork" process; they ensure true sustainability through long-standing relationships with their carefully-picked suppliers, whilst ensuring minimal impact on the environment. We really believe that this professionalism shines through in their product – which is why they are the perfect meat supplier for us and our customers.
Having stocked, lovingly consumed(!) and greatly enjoyed providing Lost and Grounded beer at our pub The Prickly Pear in Bruton, they were an obvious choice for our draught beer partner. Our best seller is a beer that we collaborated on directly, the Inoshishi lager. An 80% rice lager which is crisp, fresh and dry, perfect to enjoy alongside our menu. Our super-kindly account manager James took our whole team on a brewery tour where we were able to dive into its inner workings and origins; this made it even clearer to us why they were the best beers to serve to our customers.
You may have noticed the dried-flower cloud in our main restaurant, our beautiful vases of seasonal flowers on the bar or the plants carefully placed around Inoshishi. We are so honoured to have such a unique selection of plants and dried flower displays, all courtesy of Sara from The Moss Archives. We met Sara at her shop and immediately fell in love with her style. We thought our brands are a great match and therefore put our restaurant’s plant selection in her hands. The outcome is pure magic – Sara has a beautiful shop on Cheap Street which you must check out!
"An independent, female-founded, specialty coffee roastery and rebellion movement." That says it all really. Working solely with female-owned farms, with only female employees, their story has been empowering in the male-dominated world that is the coffee industry. We love this company for their ethical and moral standing, the way they nurture what they are so passionate about, the way they process their coffee and, most importantly, how their coffee tastes. They are a great local company and we very much value the relationship that we continue to build.
